Physical Therapists – Indiana
Dr. Karen Wyss graduated in 1985 from the “school voor Fysiotherapy” in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Karen had her first job in Switzerland where she was introduced to manual therapy. In 1988 Karen came to the United States and she has been working in outpatient physical therapy with a focus on Manual Therapy. Karen completed two years of MT training via the Ola Grimsby institute followed by Manual Physical Therapy training at the University of St. Augustine (USA). Karen obtained her DPT in 2007 and completed in 2008 her Cranio-Facial Certification through USA. Karen has been a lecturer for years and she has covered a variety of topics such as Cervical and Upper Extremity relationship, relaxation courses, and several Manual Therapy focused courses.
Dr. Maribel Bacalan graduated magna cum laude in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from De Los Santos College in the Philippines. In 2015, she completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Dominican College in New York. She has been fortunate to work in various healthcare settings including outpatient, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, hospital, and home health care. Maribel specializes in manual therapy, vestibular therapy and neurological rehabilitation and has certifications in vestibular rehabilitation (AIB-VR) and evidence-based concussion (AIB-CON) from the American Institute of Balance. She is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP) and a board certified Tai Chi for Rehabilitation Instructor. In her spare time, Maribel enjoys her yoga practice and spending quality time with her family.
Physical Therapists – Florida
Emily graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Florida Gulf Coast University and has a Master’s in Business Administration from Saint Leo University. She earned a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, is a former Crossfit coach, and was a national qualifier in DIII collegiate swimming. She has been a personal trainer for over six years and has worked with athletes, geriatrics, children, and persons with disabilities. Emily has conducted and presented research at the Florida Physical Therapy Association’s annual conference. She has also taken several manual therapy courses and is passionate about orthopedic manual therapy.
Rob received his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the Hogeschool Heerlen in the Netherlands. In 2003, He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine. He also completed his manual therapy (MTC), primary care (PCC), and the cranio-fascial, neck, and head pain (CFC). In 2008, He received his PhD from NOVA South Eastern University. Rob completed the Manual Therapy Fellowship program at Regis University and the orthopedic (OCS) certification in 2008.
Rob has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1995, the North American Spine Society since 2002, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2006. Rob is an assistant professor at Florida Gulf Coast university and remains active in clinical practice. Additionally, he is an adjunct faculty at the University of St. Augustine. Rob’s research interest relates to manual therapy, pain, and brain modulation.

Matt Hard, PTA
Matthew received his B.S. in Kinesiology in 1999 from the University of Illinois, where he also attended graduate school and taught undergraduate classes in Biomechanics and Human Motor Control. He received his P.T.A. degree from Ivy Tech College in 2004. For the past 12 years he has been practicing in an outpatient setting with an emphasis on manual therapy. When not working, Matt enjoys doing anything outdoors, including camping, hiking, and bike riding
Isiah Shanko, PTA
Isiah is a graduate of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program at ITCC and began working as a licensed PTA as of July 2015. Since then Isiah has been practicing in an outpatient setting with the primary focus being manual therapy. He also works at local skilled nursing facilities and is trained in working with geriatric population. Isiah is actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from Governors State University in Illinois. From there he will be applying to Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs and furthering his education. In his down time between work and “hitting” the books, Isiah enjoys riding his bicycle or motorcycle, hiking and playing any sport the Valparaiso parks department offers.
Physical Therapist Assistants – Florida
Linda graduated with honors from Hodges University with an Associate’s degree in science as a physical therapist assistant. She also has completed extensive post graduate training as a certified orthopedic manual physical therapist assistant. She has spent the last three years working in an outpatient setting. She specializes in manual therapies and balance/vestibular disorders. She enjoys traveling with her husband, history, meeting new people, and chasing her two cats.
Administrative Staff – Indiana
Katie is currently a Senior at Indiana University Northwest, about to receive a B.A. in Communication, with a minor in Psychology. She has particular interests in photography, video/audio production/editing, and radio production. Katie has great experience with customer service and retail with past jobs. She only hopes to expand her knowledge by experiencing new areas in the digital media and marketing field through her employment at ITP.
Joy is a graduate from Florida Gulf Coast University with her Bachelor’s degree. She is now attending Ivy Tech College and will be graduating with her Associates in nursing. After Joy graduates she will be a registered nurse and will pursue a career in the nursing field along with furthering her nursing education.
Stacy joined the team late 2018. She has recently relocated to the region with her husband. Stacy is a mother of 2 and family is very important to her. Reading and crafting in her free time with gardening as a long-lived hobby.
She has worked in various areas of the medical field prior to joining our team. Stacy works with our Merrillville team part time and is determined to bring her best to our patient’s and clinicians.
Welcome to Integrated Therapy Practice! My name is Billie Riese and I have been the administrative assistant at our Valparaiso Indiana location since Oct. 2010. Prior to ITP I had worked several years in the banking industry. I currently live in Hebron Indiana with my husband and two of our three children. I’m a Nana to two beautiful and very active little girls. My interests are movies, reading, exercising/health and spending time with my family and dreaming about retiring to a little cottage by the beach someday./p>

Meka is currently a Junior at Florida Gulf Coast University majoring in Legal Studies with a minor in Sociology. Upon graduation I plan to pursue a career as a paralegal and then apply to law school. I have been working at ITP since 2016. My interests include participating in sports, socializing, reading and writing.
